Himachal Pradesh HIMUDA housing scam

Shimla, Thu Apr 07 2011: The Himachal Pradesh government today admitted in the State Assembly that irregularities had been detected in grant of licences to three prime builders of mega housing projects, but blamed the bureaucracy . Cornered by the Opposition during question hour, Housing Minister Mohinder Singh totally washed his hands of the alleged scam in grant of Essentialiity Certificates (ECs) to six promoters.
The minister, in order to defend the government's action, said he proposes to recommend action against all those officials who committed irregularities in issuing ECs to three promoters — M/s MJH Infrastructure and HMR Developers, both Delhi-based companies — and Pink Pearl Road Estate project sanctioned at Solan. "I have seen all the records. The file never came to me. Only officials handled these cases and passed the orders," he said. The Minister declined to accept a demand for withdrawal of the ECs of three companies but agreed to stop further construction work at their sites.
